Bungie is ready for millions of players to swarm their servers when Destiny finally arrives at its release date. Â In a recent post on the company blog, the developers fielded questions about potential problems that a game like Destiny might have. Â Despite other games buckling under the weight of a highly anticipated online launch, Bungie is confident that this won’t happen to them.
“This isn’t our first rodeo. Â Bungie is no stranger to anxious mobs of players who rush home after a midnight launch and put our best-laid plans to the test.”
And those anxious mobs were the millions of Halo players who “rushed home” to play online via Xbox Live. Â These players had the choice to play Halo offline if they wanted to. Â This will not be the case with Destiny, as the game will have an always online requirement.
The developers have yet to put an official release date on their new game, but Destiny is expected to arrive in 2014. Â Bungie was present at the reveal of the PlayStation 4, and Destiny will be a next-gen title that arrives on other platforms as well.
