Call of Duty: WWII Gets The Christmas No.1 in the UK

Call of Duty: WWII was the top selling game in the United Kingdom this week, which earned the game the title of ‘Christmas Number 1,’ as it happens in other entertainment industries like music. It is the fourth consecutive Christmas No.1 for the franchise and the eight overall, which puts it on par with EA’s FIFA series. WWII has become a real turnaround for the series after a few underperforming titles. Without accounting for digital sales, the game has performed in the UK near the level of Black Ops 3, while a few days ago we learned that it had attracted the highest revenue since Black Ops 2 in North America.

Activision’s president of UK and Iberia, Roy Stackhouse, said in a statement: “We’re extremely proud that Call of Duty: WW II is the UK Christmas number one, marking the franchise’s fourth consecutive year in the holiday top spot. This also represents Call of Duty: WWII’s seventh straight week at the top of the charts, equalling the impressive achievements of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy earlier this year.”

This week’s most relevant release is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for Xbox One. The game has had a big debut but it still couldn’t beat Call of Duty to the top spot. The game occupies number 4 in the All Formats list below multiplatforms FIFA 18 and Star Wars Battlefront 2, although it entered at number 2 in the Individual Formats list.

Another new entry this week was the excellent Okami HD, although it could only make it at #37, with the Xbox One version missing the top 40 entirely.
