While sequels to Final Fantasy games weren’t always the norm in the early days of the series, as time has passed more and more of them have been receiving continuations. Final Fantasy 13 ended up getting two direct sequels, which was a move that many fans were unhappy with due to their less-than-enthusiastic response to the first game.

Square Enix and the developers of Final Fantasy 15 are trying to right the ship and get the series back on track with the latest installment. However, if the game ends up living up to the hype will it also be getting sequels?According the game’s director, that is not currently the case. He said the following to GameSpot:

“To answer the question of whether we have any intention of making further games with Noctis in them after or continuing the story after Final Fantasy XV is out, I can tell you we don’t currently have any plans for that.”

“There may be a call for it business-wise, but personally, from out point of view, the way we see it is there are people that have been waiting for this game for a very long time now, and we want them to keep enjoying it for as long as possible.”

Depending on how the game turns out will decide whether or not a sequel is even warranted, but it’s good to know that they aren’t going into this with a trilogy in mind and then intentionally leaving things our for future installments. Final Fantasy 15 will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 29th.
