We learned recently that a major announcement for From Software’s Dark Souls 3 was on the horizon, and today we know what it is. The previous speculation that it would be regarding the game’s DLC has turned out to be true, as Bandai Namco has detailed the game’s first of two DLC packs.
While it doesn’t seem as substantial as some of the other DLC that the Souls games have gotten in the past, the first DLC for Dark Souls 3 will add a new PVP-exclusive snow-themed map called Immortal Competition. Along with the new PVP map comes new weapons (including a new great sword) and magic (including a new ice spell).
This definitely isn’t the most exciting DLC to come out for the series, but it will nevertheless get players who have put the game aside an excuse to jump back in. However, it seems more likely now that next year’s DLC will be the meatier of the two, maybe falling along the lines of Dark Souls 1’s Artorias of the Abyss DLC.
Dark Souls 3 is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The Ashes of Ariandel DLC will launch on October 25th, though more information will be coming tomorrow.
