Koei Tecmo and Ninja Theory have released the free-to-play version of their fighting game Dead or Alive 6. Just like with the previous entry in the series, Core Fighter is a bare bones version of the full game as it offers only 4 of the 24 characters to play, Kasumi, Hitomi, Diego, and Bass.
The idea for this version of the game is to give you an idea of how Dead or Alive 6 works, and if you enjoy it enough their are ways to expand upon the initial 4 fighters. You can pay for additional fighters at $3.99 a piece, as well as special character bundles if you want to save a little bit of money. All nine male fighters, and all 11 female fighters are on sale right now at $33.99 and $39.99 respectively. Alternatively you can just buy all of the fighters outright for $49.99.
However, one of the best parts about Dead or Alive 6 Core Fighters is that you have access to the majority of the game modes offered in the full version. This includes versus, arcade, time attack, training, online battle, and the new DOA Quest mode. The Story mode has an introduction for Core Fighters, but if you want to play that through its entirety then it’s an additional $19.99.
