Oh retailer exclusive pre-order bonuses, how we all simultaneously love and loathe you. The practice of giving certain retail versions of a game access to exclusive DLC has been a controversial topic, to say the least. Still, publishers continue to use it as a way to get customers to throw their money at them early, and often. The latest game to jump on the bandwagon is Dead Rising 4, which just had a slew of retailer exclusive pre-order bonus DLC revealed.
Gamestop, Best Buy, and Amazon, otherwise known as “the usual suspects”, all have their own individual pieces of DLC that their customers will receive, if they order early. Thankfully it’s smaller stuff, mostly individual weapons or pieces of clothing. Even the Microsoft Store itself got into the game with some pretty cool looking gloves.
“Fans who pre-order the Dead Rising 4 Standard Edition from the Microsoft Store will receive the exclusive X-Fists DLC, which allow you to smash and bash your way through the zombie mayhem while equipped in an EXO Suit,” reads the announcement from Xbox Wire.
Gamestop customers get the Steampunk Snowman Head, which is “a combo weapon that shoots snowballs at zombies and freezes them in their tracks. Once they’re stopped, you can shatter them!” Meanwhile, Best Buy keeps the holiday theme going with a Candy Cane Crossbow weapon, and Amazon goes old schoole with the Slicecycle “a combo chain saw and motorcycle with superior strength and speed to slice your way effectively through the zombie horde”
Dead Rising 4 hits Xbox One and Windows 10 PC on December 6th.
