Despite Nintendo slashing the price on its 3DS handheld, it doesn’t look like the added sales are having much impact on the bottom line according to Nikkei analysts.
Nintendo will announced earnings shortly, and it is thought that the news won’t be good for the company. They are expected to announce a greater than expected loss for the first half of the year. Analysts believe that the weakness in the handheld stems from consumers drifting away from traditional devices like the 3DS, and into tablets and other mobile devices that offer more versatility.
Earlier in the summer, Nintendo slashed its outlook for the year by a substantial amount causing panic among investors, that talked about Nintendo’s best being behind them. While these are just predictions, keep an eye on Nintendo this thursday, that is, if you are into that sort of thing.
