Bungie has revealed a new area that’s being added to Destiny 2 with the release of the Forsaken Expansion next month. The Forbidden City has been showcased in the latest game footage for the upcoming downloadable content and this new end game area is being billed as something quite different for Destiny 2 players.
Bungie is being timid in promotion this new area calling the Dreaming City the “Largest Endgame Experience Ever,” saying that it’s riddled with puzzles and shrouded in mystery in the latest trailer for the Forsaken expansion.
The rewards for uncovering said secrets is going to be loot, of course, but Bungie is also promising something a little different on the reward side, claiming that lore will also be relayed for those that persevere.
The biggest challenge of the Dreaming City is going to be the new Raid that’s attached to the area. This will take place against a giant monster who resides in the City’s Core. Just how long Destiny 2 players are going to need to wait for this new raid to release following the actual release of the expansion has not yet been announced.
The Dreaming City has a lot of weight on its shoulders. It looks to solve one the game’s biggest problems since launch, and that’s in keeping end-game and high level players engaged in the game.
The Destiny 2 Forsaken DLC is heading out to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 4th.
