DICE has teased that something very big is coming this week, with many suspecting that it might be the official reveal of Battlefield 5, or some other game in the series. The rumors started spreading when Randy Evans, Senior Video & Media Director/Editor for DICE posted a tweet saying “A BIG trailer is dropping this week……people don’t even know what’s coming.”
Of course, any big news out of DICE is immediately lumped into the usual Battlefield frenzy. We know that a new BF game will hit at some point, so the question is always just about when it will be revealed. However, a few other bits of info point away from the military shooter franchise, and toward a game that many have been anticipating for some time.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is said to get some new information released this week, which could be what Evans is referring to in his tweet. The only reason one might doubt it is just how hyped up he is trying to get people. While Mirror’s Edge is a great looking game, and many have been waiting for it since the first game hit in 2008, it doesn’t hold the same amount of fan fervor as a Battlefield game might. (UPDATE: The Mirror’s Edge trailer is out. This is likely what Evans was referring to given the production value.)
As it stands the only information we definitely have is that DICE will be releasing a new trailer this week, and that they believe it will really get fans excited. Could that be Battlefield 5, or even the much requested Bad Company 3? Of course. It could also be a new trailer for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, which would also be great, but not quite as Earth shattering.
