Next month will see the release of one of the most charming-looking games of the year in Coldwood Interactive’s Unravel. The upcoming physics-based platformer stars a character that is definitely the epitome of unique, and now a new video has been released that delves into where the idea for the character came from in the first place.
Unravel is created by Martin Sahlin, and in the video Sahlin discusses how a sudden burst of inspiration led to his idea to make a game that centers around red yarn being a representation of love. Yarny begins his adventure being tethered to someone very important, but he eventually journeys out into the world to help bind together things that should no longer be apart.
As mentioned previously, Sahlin created a real-life doll that resembled Yarny on a camping trip with his family that they all became very attached to. The same attachment that he and his family felt for the little doll is an emotion he hopes he’ll share with the world very soon.
Unravel is set to launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox one and PC on February 9, 2016. Check out the Yarny’s Inspiration video below.
