The toys to life genre has become constantly popular over the last few years and Disney Infinity is one of the cornerstones of that market. After bringing Marvel into the fold last year, Star Wars is the big addition in Disney Infinity 3.0 and we won’t have to wait much longer to get our hands on it.
Following a release pattern more like the first game in the series, Disney Infinity 3.0 will be releasing on August 30 in the US for PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PS3, and Xbox 360. Last year’s entry in comparison came about a month later in late September.
This release date also keeps it out in front of Skylanders, this time by a larger margin than last year. There is a very good chance it is coming earlier also to avoid the new LEGO Dimensions that is coming in late September as well.
According to Game Informer, the standard Starter Pack that comes with the Twilight of the Republic playset will give you the game, a base to use, and Anakin and Ahsoka figures from The Clone Wars. Those who pre-order any version of the game at certain retailers will also get the toy box takeover game.
In addition, as we learned during E3, the PS4 will exclusively have the Rise Against the Empire playset and the Boba Fett figure for the first month via the special edition of the game on that console only.
There will be a number of other playsets and standalone figures available at launch as well, including ones based on Star Wars Rebels, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Olaf, Mulan, and two Tron figures. A full playset will also be available based on the recently released Inside Out as well.
