The alpha for Doom has been datamined, revealing a ton of information regarding content that will be coming in the final build of the game. Among the revelations from the datamine is lots of new weapons and enemies that we’ve seen in previous games in the series, as well as some interesting gameplay mechanics and tweaks.

Before we begin, just a solid heads-up that some of this content might be spoiler territory for some. If you want to be surprised by some of these enemy and weapon reveals then do not read on, though no actual story details are given.

First up is the pile of weapons that were discovered, which come with brief video clips showing them off in action. They are the Chainsaw, the Shotgun, the E3 Plasma Rifle, the Assault/Heavy Rifle, and the Chaingun. Each of the short video clips give off a great feel of what the weapons will be like in-game, with tons of powerful kick being packed with each one.

As for enemies, it was revealed that enemies like Arch-Vile and Spider Mastermind are back. However, alterations and deviations from how they looked and acted in the past may be present, as the Spider Mastermind’s move set contains laser attacks, mines and telekinesis.

Perhaps most interesting is the discovery that the game’s boss appearances may randomly-generate from game to game, with no single playthrough’s boss encounter locations ever being the same. Ultraviolent and Nightmare difficulty modes were also discovered, as well as an increased movement speed that seems to address many alpha players’ complaints about the game being too slow.

Doom is developed by id Software and is set to launch on May 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
