Earlier this year we got the unfortunate news that the 3DS remake of Dragon Quest 8 would not be making its 2016 release, with the developer needing a little more time in order to polish the game up. While that hasn’t changed, the good news is that the delay was a very small one when all is said and done.
Nintendo has now revealed that the game will launch in January of next year, while also sharing some new features for the game. The game will allow you to save wherever you want within the game with Quick-Save, which is a departure from the original game requiring you to save at churches. There will also be a Speed Up feature that allows you to make battles move more quickly, similarly to the Bravely series.
Interestingly enough, the game will also include a feature that allows you to take photos outside of battles and during cutscenes, and then edit them with stickers and filters. The game will eventually provide a codex that rewards the player for taking pictures of certain things.
Dragon Quest 8: Journey of the Cursed King for the 3DS will launch on January 20th, 2017. You can check out our review of the recent release of the 7th game on 3DS by clicking right here.
