While Bethesda has given the green light to sequels for many of their IPs, there are some solid games that still haven’t gotten any kind of a continuation. Two of the biggest ones that come to mind are The Evil Within and Rage, which came up in conversation when Bethesda’s VP Pete Hines was asked about sequel potential for the games.

Hines was speaking with Finder when he was asked whether or not The Evil Within and Rage sold well enough to warrant sequels, to which he replied with:  “I do think both The Evil Within and Rage did well enough that we could make sequels,” said Hines. Though with that said, the executive was careful not to give any hints about whether either game has a sequel in the works.”

However he goes on to say that “I can’t talk about the unannounced stuff and what we may or may not do. I get myself in trouble whenever I do that. If I come out and say, ‘I just don’t think that is going to happen,’ then people freak out. So I won’t confirm or deny stuff we may or may not do, as people jump to the wrong conclusions. Personally I loved Rage and had a tonne of fun playing it, but we have a lot of stuff in the pipeline right now so you will have to wait and see.”

The Evil Within launched in 2014 and Rage launched in 2011, so sequels to both would definitely be welcome. A sequel to The Evil Within was actually rumored to be announced during Bethesda’s E3 2016 press conference, though nothing ever came of it.
