Fallout 4 File Size and PC System Requirements Officially Revealed

by Kyle Hanson

Bethesda has opened the floodgates, releasing a ton of info that fans will need for the release of Fallout 4. First up is the file size for the game on PC and consoles, letting you clear off space on the hard drive if you need to. Which you might, especially if you don’t have a 1TB system.

Fallout 4 will require between 28GB and 35GB of space depending on factors that Bethesda didn’t go into. Previous leaks suggested that the Xbox One version would require 28GB of space, so this fits with that, and hints that the higher number might not be absolutely necessary, or that it is the PS4 version’s size.

Next up, for those on PC, are the PC system requirements for Fallout 4. While the game presents a massive open world, it doesn’t seem to be too taxing on the hardware, having some pretty standard recommended requirements compared to other AAA games. However, a couple of items have caused concern, such as the 4GB video card recommendation. Check them out below to see if your system is capable:

Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent

Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i7 4790 3.6 GHz/AMD FX-9590 4.7 GHz or equivalent
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB/AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB or equivalent

Other info was released, such as that the PC version would support plug & play gamepads, and that the Pip-Boy companion app would hit on November 10th, alongside the game. If you have any other questions let us know in the comments.

Fallout 4 hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 10th.
