Fallout 4 is shaping up to be one of the biggest games of the year, which always bring about high expectations for performance. However, with a massive, open world like we’ve seen in the series so far, that performance can sometimes not live up to what some might expect. With Fallout 4 it seems that it will follow through on its promises though, with Bethesda’s VP of Public Relations, Pete Hines stating that the game will run at a “solid 30 FPS” on PS4.

We’ve previously shared the technical details for the game, which puts it at 1080p and 30 FPS on consoles, with no hard limits on the PC version. However, these numbers don’t tell the whole story. Bethesda might be aiming at 30 FPS, but actually maintaining it throughout the game, with all of its complexities on display, can cause issues.

A fan wondered about how the framerate would hold up, asking Hines if there were any “FPS problems” on PS4. Hines responded “solid 30 FPS. I play it all the time. I think you’ll be pleased.” Unfortunately Hines wasn’t asked how the Xbox One version of the game runs, with many multi-platform titles functioning at a lower framerate or resolution on Microsoft’s console. Presumably it will retain the same high standard of performance though, so expect to see just as solid a framerate on there as Hines has promised on PS4.
