Fan Made Star Wars Battlefront 3 Stopped By EA; Game Continuing Without License

You may have heard of a developer wanting to make a game based off of the cancelled Star Wars Battlefront 3. Sadly, the game has somewhat been cancelled as they can no longer use Star Wars vehicles/characters.

Frontwire Studios posted a huge update on the situation on their website. The developer received a letter from Lucasfilm saying they are not allowed to make the game with the Star Wars IP.

The funny thing is that Lucasfilm were actually on-board with the idea and wanted to give Frontwire Studios the opportunity to make Galaxy of Turmoil with the Star Wars Battlefront 3 assets.

Sadly, Lucasfilm said it was their contract with EA that prevented them from allowing this to happen. Lucasfilm signed a contract so that EA is the only developer allowed to make mainstream Star Wars video games.

To add more insult to injury, EA were totally not on board with the idea at all. They felt that the game would take away too much attention with their own Battlefront series. Frontwire Studios basically said the Star Wars IP was denied due to EA’s decision and that was the end of it.

However, Frontwire Studios doesn’t want people to feel ill about EA since they have a contract with Lucasfilm and they were doing what was best for business. The studio respected EA’s decision on the matter.

As of right now, Galaxy of Turmoil will still be developed as a proper game, but without the Star Wars license. They will just have to design new planets, vehicles and characters to use.
