Despite claims that suggested the cancellation of the embattled Final Fantasy XIII Versus game, it indeed has not been cancelled.  According to a recent report out of Japan, Andria Sang reports that the game is very much alive and well.

Yoichi Wada of Square Enix debunked the rumors suggesting the cancellation of the MMO.

“There’s someone making a false rumor that Versus was cancelled,” Wada said.  “Haha…just a minute ago, the regular Versus meeting ended.  If you saw the presentation of the city, it’d knock you off your feet -lol.”

Back in May, Tetsuya Nomura told Game Informer magazine that the team working on the game is looking for patience from Final Fantasy fans.

“We would like to ask for your patience on an official announcement for this title. It always takes time when tackling the challenge of doing something completely new, but we are doing our best to bring information to the fans as quickly as we can. Your patience is greatly appreciated.”

The title has missed various showings over the many years since it was officially announced, maybe these recent rumors will prompt the publisher to give fans more information on the title.  Let’s hope they’re putting that next generation Luminous engine that was revealed at E3 to good use.
