Square Enix has revealed that the Comrades multiplayer expansion of Final Fantasy XV will be available from October 31. Comrades lets players create their own character to explore the world of the game during a period of time unexplored during the main adventure. After defining all the properties of their new avatar, players take on missions as one of the survivors of the kingsglaive forces, either joining other players online or alone.

The expansion requires owning the main game to play, and it’s available as part of the season pass or as a standalone purchase. It also requirse a subscription to PlayStation Plus or an Xbox Live Gold membership.

With Comrades, the FFXV team is fulfilling the promise of exploring the period of time set after the chapter 13 of the main adventure, which in the game is omitted through a time jump. Not only players will be able to explore all the locations from Lucis in this new period, but they will also meet familiar faces from the main story like Iris, which will also help to flesh out more details of the story. The battle gameplay of this expansion is very similar to the main game, but it does feature certain differences especially when it comes to the use of magic.

This multiplayer expansion will be included in the recently announced Windows Edition of the game when it launches in 2018.

Final Fantasy XV: Comrades Multiplayer Expansion launches worldwide on PS4 and Xbox One on October 31.
