Fortnite has announced a collaboration with Balenciaga, with it, comes to life what Fortnite calls “Digital Fashion”. The collaboration includes a wide variety of in-game customization options as well as real-world merch options.
The in-game Fortnite X Balenciaga customization options are very wide and should appeal to most Fortnite players. It includes 4 fit outfits including an Unchained Ramirez Outfit, a Shady Doggo Outfit, Fashion Banshee Outfit, and a Game Knight Outfit. The collection also includes various other customization 4 various fit back, a new Speed Sneaker Pickaxe, a Parasail Purse Glider, a new Look Emote, and 2 new Free Sprays. Players are also now able to unlock the Fashion Doggo Spray by striking an emote in front of Shady Doggo graffiti at retail row, sweaty sands, or steamy stacks, as well as Knight Looks Spray by collecting triples sneakers in the strange times featured hub.
The new Fortnite X Balenciaga Digital Fashion characters are already being used in spectacular and immersive 3D real-wold billboard experiences. “Our partnership with Epic didn’t start with Fortnite, actually,” says Demna Gvasalia, artistic director at Balenciaga. “It started with our own first video game, Afterworld, which we built using Unreal Engine to debut our Fall 2021 collection.”

The digital fashion options in the Fortnite Store are based on the real-life partnership with Balenciaga which includes a very high-priced Fortnite Merch Collection. It includes a $725 hoodie, a $630 Nevermind Cat Glasses, a $495 T-Shirt, a $395 cap, and a whopping $1,290 for a Balenciaga Fortnite Jacket. The prices left people wondering and even mocking the price points of the Fortnite merch, questioning who is this very highly-priced merch of a video game is for? Others are simply questioning why is basic generic merch selling for a fashion price, and to put this into perspective, the most expensive Aviator sunglasses from Gucci is currently priced at $625 which still costs less than the Balenciaga sunglasses, the Pebbled Leather Varsity Jacket from Supreme is priced at $798 which still costs far less than the Balenciaga Fortnite Jacket.
Along with the epic new skins and Balenciaga goodies, Fortnite has dropped a new “Strange Times” Fortyography to encourage players to express themselves and create unexpected results. Players can participate by dropping their own images on Twitter by using #Fortography and #StrangeTimes, the event will end on September 23 at 12 PM ET.
