Forza Horizon 5, a game this is yet to see its official mass release date on the 9th of November is the newest in the long line of Forza racing games made for Xbox consoles, developed by Playground Games over at Xbox Game Studios. The game has numerous editions on sale, with the Premium edition being 40 dollars more than the standard edition’s selling price of $59.99.

Early reporting on the game would indicate purchasers of the premium edition of the game to be everything but few and far in between. The current in-game player figures are already totaling up to a number of more than 800,000 users. And this would only be possible if players are shelling out extra cash to get early access to Forza Horizon 5, through purchasing the premium edition of the game which lets the player start their racing careers 4 days ahead of the initial date.

This is a rather curious phenomenon considering the fact that Forza Horizon 5 is going to be a day one release on the Xbox Game Pass that is to come for November, which features a good roster of games that will be accessible through the subscription model that Microsoft has introduced a while back for Xbox and PC titles. That is not to make the suggestion that the game is not worth its asking price, but there are certainly other more financially feasible options out there to acquire the game using that don’t require spending the extra cash.

Though it could also just be that people were purchasing the Xbox game pass alongside the premium add-on bundles, this drives the price of getting the game alongside the premium content that it features down to reasonable territory, where the payment would be 5 dollars for the game pass and 49.99 for the bundle. Players would be getting early access and still grabbing all the extra content that can be obtained.

A few assumptions could be made as to why the game has reached the stellar number that it has for active players, and that would be a combination of the things that are on offer in the premium pass, combined with the quality of the game, whether through reviews or word of mouth. The flexible option of game pass + bundle aside, The premium edition comes not only with early day access, a pass to more than 40 cars, whilst topping that off with two expansions packs to the game, each featuring a sizable boost to the game through adding new locations, vehicles, and gameplay options. For players who are already interested in all of the content that the game is there to offer, purchasing the premium edition is not only buying an early pass but also an investment of the game’s future in full and the myriad of content that it’s set to release in due time.

The standard edition of Forza Horizon 5 is set to be released on November 9, 2021, on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and on PC, via Steam. The game will be available on day one as a part of the Xbox Game Pass.
