One of the big changes that came with the debut of the PS4 was the addition of a paywall to play online, similar to what Xbox Live has been doing for years. To give non-PS Plus members a chance to try out the online, Sony is holding a Free Multiplayer Weekend.
As announced through the official PlayStation blog, the Free Multiplayer Weekend event on PS4 will start on Friday, December 11 at 12:01 am PT and run through Sunday, December 13 at 11:59 pm PT.
They have made this as easy as can be too, as there is no sign up commitment or anything involved. All you have to do is fire up your favorite games like Star Wars Battlefront and Call of Duty: Black Ops III and the online aspects will work instantly.
Combining as part of the already existing PS Plus program, even though players now have to pay to play anything online on PS4, this is still a good deal considering all the frees perks and additional discounts given to PS Plus members.
For those that may have been hesitant to jump aboard due to the issues that PS3 had with online play servers at times, this is the perfect opportunity to so.
