Last fall, a new slasher horror experience from Gun Media known as Summer Camp was announced, pitting seven players against a lone psychopath who hunts the counselors down as a homage to old 80s horror. In a surprise announcement, creator and director of the original Friday the 13th, Sean Cunningham, reached out to Gun Media to make an offer to make it an official Jason Voorhees game.
Projected to come out in October 2016 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, Friday the 13th has begun an official Kickstarter to help fund the game even further for a true frightful experience of running for dear life away from the masked hockey killer. Kane Hodder, the actor who portrayed Jason in several movies, will return to motion capture the silent antagonist, performing with several stuntmen to produce brutal deaths.
The Kickstarter is asking for $700,000, and a brand new trailer was released to show some of the environments and even Jason himself. Counselors will have a progression system and fear levels which will change the reactions of the characters and their behavior. I am super excited at this prospect, as I am a huge Friday the 13th and Horror fan. With all the talent behind this, there is no reason for no one to fund this dream project.
