Jam City and TinyCo have finally revealed that Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow, the upcoming mobile game based on the animated sci-fi series, will launch worldwide on June 29 for iOS and Android devices. The announcement has been made through a trailer featuring famous names from the scientific and science fiction scene as Neil Degrasse Tyson, Bill Nye, Stephen Hawking, or five-times guest star on the show George Takei.
The trailer makes clear that the project has tried to retain all the irony and the particular style of comedy of the original show. Nontheless, the game has been created in parthership with the original writers of the series, Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. The appearance of Tyson, Nye, Hawking and Takei is not just limited to the trailer, as they are all playable characters in the game, with their own unique storyline.
Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow features a mix of different gameplay mechanics, with some missions involving city building and management of New New York, turn-based fighting, and space exploration.
The game will be available to download for free, although it will contain in-app purchases. Check out the official website for more information. Watch the new trailer below.
