Gamestop has spoken out saying they would like to see a price drop for the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles to help drive more sales.
During the more recent post earnings call, Gamestop President Tony Bartel expressed his opinion on what would help the company earn more revenue.
He says that the price drop for the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles are long overdue. He said now would be an excellent time to see a price drop for the consoles as it would “increase the sell-through rate” for both consoles and would benefit a lot of people.
Bartel says that PS3 and Xbox 360 hardware and software sales are down by 57.8 pecent compared to last year. This is a bigger drop than what Gamestop had anticipated.
Bartel admits he has no knowledge if either Microsoft or Sony are willing to drop the prices of the Xbox 360 or PS3 yet. He just thinks it would be a good idea for them to do it. After all, latecomers could buy the consoles simply because neither the PS4 or Xbox One is backwards compatible.
Not to mention there are some games that the older consoles have that the newer ones don’t. Borderlands The Pre-Sequel and Assassin’s Creed Rogue comes to mind.
Will you be still willing to buy a PS3 or Xbox 360 if the prices dropped in 2015?
