Like everyone else on the planet, we’re all aboard the Borderlands 3 hype train and can’t wait for it to come out on September 13. Until then, Gearbox Software will be showcasing some parts of the game from time to time, in fact, the very first gameplay reveal stream is this Wednesday May 1. However, the company has revealed yet another new feature for the series, although this one is definitely not what we were expecting. Announced with a new trailer, Gearbox has officially unveiled the Borderlands 3 ECHOcast Twitch Extension.
It seems Randy and company have partnered up with the streaming giant to add in some extra perks for the upcoming game. According to a post from Gearbox, the extension will allow Twitch viewers to look inside the backpack of the Twitch Streamer while they are playing Borderlands 3, including what perks they chose for their skill tree. This will also branch out to any weapons and gear they aren’t using at the time, giving the viewers a chance to request, or demand, the player to switch out items for something else.
On top of that, anyone who participates in the extension has a chance to earn in game loot themselves for Borderlands 3. This will become apparent once the streamer opens up a rare chest as Twitch will notify you that you have only 30 seconds to opt in to the event. Once that’s done, a random viewer will be awarded the exact same item that the streamer recieved from said chest for themselves. It’s also important to note that any items obtained in the game will immediately scale to your level.
Another important tidbit regarding the extension is that you must have your Twitch Account linked with your SHIFT Account, otherwise you won’t be able to use this unique feature at all. Don’t worry though, Gearbox has put together a detailed guide on how to accomplish this which you can check out here.
Borderlands 3Â launches on September 13 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can also check out the Borderlands 3 ECHOcast Twitch Extension here:
