Microsoft promised a big showcase of games for E3 2019 and they didn’t disappoint with big reveals regarding Flight Simulator and Cyberpunk 2077. They continued hyping their fans with some brand new info about Gears 5, including the release date. You’ll be able to play the latest installment in The Coalition’s hit series on September 10th on Xbox One. And for members of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate you’ll get the game four days before that for no additional cost.
Unfortunately there wasn’t much gameplay to be seen from the reveal though, instead showcasing a pre-rendered trailer for a new multiplayer mode. Diving beneath the E3 2019 stage, the new Escape mode looks like a survival take on the Gears formula. Focused on three player co-op as players have to work together to survive the Hive. If you want to try the game for yourself, you can head to your local Microsoft Store to see if they have the demo available.
Gears has always been a big part of the Xbox experience and Gears 5 looks to continue that tradition. And with Game Pass becoming such a massive deal for the platform, this launch could cement it as the way to play new, exclusive games on Xbox One and maybe even PC.
