Microsoft has recently revealed that they have purchased the rights to the Gears of War franchise from Epic Games, and an internal studio will handle the franchise going forward. Black Tusk, who were known to be working on an unknown game, will be tasked with the taking Gears of War into the next generation.
Microsoft has also hired series veteran, Rod Fergusson to steer the ship at Black Tusk, overseeing the Gears of War franchise.
Microsoft Studios head, Phil Spencer had this to say about Black Tusk taking the reigns for the Gears of War franchise.
“Black Tusk has assembled a world-class team with deep experience and passion for the shooter space, and specifically the “Gears of War” franchise. I am extremely confident that under the leadership of Hanno Lemke, Rod Fergusson and our other leaders in the studio, Black Tusk is well equipped to take on the future development of the “Gears of War” franchise.”
Black Tusk Studio head Hanno Lemke says that they hope to have more news to share about Gears of War later this year.
