Todd Papy was the director for the most recently released game in the God of War series, God of War: Ascension.  Announcing earlier this year that he was leaving Sony Santa Monica, it appears that the developer has landed at Crytek, makers of Ryse: Son of Rome.

Papy’s resume was recently updated to reflect the career change, and notes that he’s working on an unannounced title at Crytek.

Did the growing studio bring Papy on to push the Ryse series forward?  Speculation is already brewing that the God of War developer’s next game will be a follow-up to the Xbox One exclusive.

Released just days ago, Ryse: Son of Rome had critics on the fence.  But there was a common thread in many reviews for the game.  A lot of critics noted that Ryse: Son of Rome has potential for a sequel, given that Crytek can build gameplay systems around the base of the combat systems.

Is Papy the man to do just that?  We’ll have to wait and see what the developer’s next project is at Crytek.
