It looks like a Forza developer has now jumped ship to work on Gran Turismo 7 for the PS4.
The LinkedIn profile of Mike Caviezel shows he’s now currently the “Senior Audio Lead at Polyphony Digital”. Polyphony Digital is currently working on Gran Turismo 7 for the PS4 at the moment. He only recently got the job as he started in April 2015.
Looking down at his previous work, he was the “Audio Production Director” at Microsoft Studios. He was responsible for the Sound Design & Music for many of Microsoft’s first party titles.
For a number of years though, he was the Audio Lead at Turn 10 Studios. His profile says he “provided audio for the Forza Motorsport franchise games, including Forza Motorsport 1,2,3 and 4“. He was pretty much responsible for making the cars all sound realistic on those games and more.
It’s a good move for Polyphony Digital to nab Caviezel for Gran Turismo 7. If there is one weakness to the Gran Turismo series, it’s the sound of the cars. Many people that have played the GT franchise think the sounds of the cars don’t sound as meaty as in other games. Some compare them to the sound of that of a vacuum.
Hopefully with Caviezel now on board for Gran Turismo 7, the car sounds and noises will sound a lot better.
