Ubisoft revealed Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate today during a live stream event.  Watchers were treated to the first looks at the next Assassin’s Creed game, and what we saw was something both familiar and new.  While Ubisoft addressed the issues with last year’s release of Assassin’s Creed: Unity, they look to get back on track with this new game coming from their Quebec team.

The rumors have been true.  Syndicate is indeed set in Victorian London 1868, and features a brand new protagonist, introduced today as Jacob Frye.  The time period allows for both new gadgets and technology that populate the world as the time period was one of new inventions.

During the livestream a few key features were introduced.  There were plenty of carriages, and Jacob will have the opportunity to use them to get across town quickly and will find himself in high-speed carriage chases.  The feature that could change the game most significantly is a new grappling hook, which will allow the protagonist to scale buildings much quicker than the traditional climbing mechanics of the series.

More details to come shortly as all information is parsed from the reveal, but Assassin’s Creed Syndicate has been announced for October 23rd on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.  Below you’ll find a number of recently released trailers for the game.
