According to a recent blog post by developer Rockstar, GTA 5 on PS4 and Xbox One will be getting the Rockstar Editor in the next major GTA 5 update. Rockstar Editor was one of the major PC-exclusive features available in GTA 5 when it launched earlier this year. The feature allows players to record, edit, and upload in-game clips using a variety of video editing tools.
The developer regularly holds a competition to see who can put together the best clip in GTA 5 and GTA Online. While announcing the victors of the latest they said, Â “The upcoming launch of the Rockstar Editor for PS4 and Xbox One as the next update to Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online means the next Rockstar Editor Contest will be the first one with entries across all three platforms – so the creative competition will be fiercer than ever. Stay tuned for info about that contest and forthcoming update.”
It’s been known for a while that the Rockstar Editor would be coming to PS4 and Xbox One, but we didn’t really have a timeframe until now. With it coming in the next update to GTA 5, it seems that console players won’t have long to wait for the feature.
Those on PS3 and Xbox 360 almost certainly won’t get the Rockstar Editor though, as those systems have essentially reached the maximum level of performance for GTA 5.
