With just over a month til release, Rockstar has begun to speak more freely about GTA V. While we’ve heard about how the game is their biggest project to date, they haven’t exactly elaborated on the development process for their latest entry in the Grand Theft Auto series.
The world is huge, but it’s handcrafted, says Rockstar
In a recent interview with Buzzfeed, Rockstar’s Art Director Aaron Garbut spoke about the game’s massive environments.
“I want to stress that not only is this world huge but it’s absolutely handcrafted. Every but of this world has had a large number of extremely talented artists pore over it. There’s always something to discover, something weird or interesting to see or interact with. It’s absolutely not a massive, empty world. We’ve considered the placement of every tree.”
This attention to detail is rarity in open-world games, which often times have exactly what Garbut mentions. Large environment playgrounds, with very little life given to them. We’ll all find out soon enough, just how meticulously craft GTA V is, the game is due to launch in just over a month’s time on September 17th for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
