GTA V Update 1.29 is hitting today, bringing with it a ton of features that fans have been waiting for. Of course, console players will finally be getting their hands on the Rockstar Editor. This formerly PC-exclusive feature lets players record and edit their in-game footage. Along with this comes the much anticipated Freemode Events, which were only announced last week, but have already become a hot topic of discussion.

These new events take place in the massive open-world environment of GTA Online. This freemode has been criticized by many for lacking in interesting things to do, forcing players to jump into missions to have any real fun. Of course, doing this requires them to wait through the extremely long load times that GTA Online has become infamous for.

This is no longer the case though, as GTA Online’s huge open-world freemode will now host a multitude of events that players can join into at will. These won’t require any loading times, or take you out of the game in any way. You just drive where you need to be and join in the fun.

There will be a number of different Freemode events to start things off, including Hunt the Beast, King of the Castle, Hot Property, and Moving Target. To see them all, and get a full rundown of how they work, head over to the official GTA V Update 1.29 Patch Notes. While you’re there you can also check out the huge list of smaller additions and changes coming to GTA V and GTA Online in this update.

Those on PS3 and Xbox 360 will unfortunately not receive this update as Rockstar has ended support for these versions of the game. To keep getting updates players will have to switch to PS4, Xbox One, or PC.
