There was a rumor going around that Pacific Rim has been cancelled. Guillermo del Toro has confirmed that this is not the case and the movie is still going ahead.

Guillermo del Toro posted on Twitter: “Pac Rim 2 cancelled? Don’t believe everything you read. It’s still going and I’ll remain w it in one way or another!

The latter part confirms that Guillermo del Toro will still be involved in the project. They won’t be going ahead with the movie with another director or anything like that. Fans can rest easy that Micheal Bay won’t be brought on board. Bay is busy working on Transformers 5 instead.

Pacific Rim was popular when it came out in 2013. Many people were hoping a sequel will happen and it’s still on the cards for now. It will just be a long wait for the movie to come out as a definite release date has not been announced yet.

Thankfully Pacific Rim has not been cancelled or Guillermo del Toro would have had a heart attack. The man already had to go through disappointment when Konami criminally cancelled Silent Hills for no reason other than to spite Hideo Kojima.
