Half Life 3 Questions Will Likely Be Posed at Gaben AMA

Gabe Newell is allegedly getting ready to take part in a Reddit AMA.  We say allegedly for a couple of reasons.  The first being that the Valve boss will be hosting the forum on r/The_Gaben, a parody subreddit that doesn’t have quite the clout, of say, the Steam Reddit or r/Games.  The second being the only proof that this is happening is a .jpg image of an email conversation with Newell.

If it’s to happen, the Gabe Newell AMA (Ask Me Anything) is slated for January 17th at 3:00 PM PST where he’ll promply be bombarded with questions regarding Half Life 3 and Left 4 Dead 3.

Is it possible that Gabe Newell will reveal either?  We’re not banking on it, but I suppose it’s a possibility.  At this point, most have lost hope that either are happening despite some rumors that have surfaced over the years.

Valve & Steam have transitioned into a money making machine with DOTA 2, their virtual reality projects, and retail marketplace home for misguided early access titles.  Gabe himself has said that Half Life 3 and other projects have become casualties of a shifting focus at the company.

Despite Valve’s silence on the matter, Half Life 3 does manage to creep up into the conversation from time to time.  Most recently, a Game Informer interview with a Valve insider alleged that there is no such thing as Half Life 3, but that there have been numerous teams at Valve working on concepts for the game as far back as 2005.

Perhaps Gabe is coming to Reddit to clear the air on these recent allegations.  After all, Game Informer’s recent article regarding Half Life 3 was unverified information according to the writer. The information within the article gave readers a sneak peek at the inside of Valve as a company, its culture, and the hows and whys of its game development choices.
