It seems that Microsoft and 343 Industries had a little surprise waiting for fans. After rumors pointed to Halo 3: ODST launching as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on May 29th were dispelled, owners of the troubled game waited for the official announcement. Instead they woke up this morning with messages in their Xbox Live inbox giving them a code for the game. Those who played Halo: The Master Chief Collection before December 19th, 2014 should have received the message, which unlocks the single player campaign for Halo 3: ODST. Codes must be redeemed before June 30th, so act fast.
Halo 3: ODST campaign for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is ready!
The promotion was a result of the many launch troubles for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which had matchmaking issues, as well as many other bugs. A good portion of these have since been ironed out, creating a passable experience for owners of the game, though some still linger to this day. 343 Industries is hoping that the free add-on of Halo 3: ODST’s single player campaign will help compensate players who experienced the worst of the problems. Those who did not earn a code will soon be able to purchase the additional content for $4.99 on the Xbox Live Store.
Along with the campaign come a new set of achievements, adding to Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s already robust collection. Click here to see the full list, along with the new achievement for multiplayer map Remnant, which will likely come later.
