Halo 4 could be the next game to see “cosmetic bonus items” added to it’s list of downloadable content. If so, it would follow a recent trend that developers have hopped on that allows for further online customization options, for a price.
We’ve seen numerous games offering these cosmetic upgrades in recent years. Gears of War 3 offered it in the form of gun skins and new characters, Gears of War: Judgment already has it, Call of Duty: Black Ops II recently started offering micro-transactions as well, and it looks like 343 Industries is exploring their options.
According to a recent interview with Digital Spy, 343 Industries thinks Halo 4 has the potential for these same types of offerings.
“I think Halo certainly has the potential for those kinds of things,” said Dan Ayoub of the developer. “We don’t have too much to talk about in terms of our plans down that line, but it’s certainly something we’ve seen the fans of Gears are enjoying, and if it’s something we think our community is going to enjoy, it’s something we’ll seriously talk about.”
These items aren’t available now, and there’s no telling if 343 Industries will in fact start offering this type of content to Halo 4 players.
