73GB of Xbox One X and matchmaking improvements.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection might finally be reaching its lofty potential with the latest update rolling out today. Said to be the culmination of months of work by 343 Industries, this update prepares the game for its inclusion in Xbox Game Pass while adding in some big improvements all around, including support for Xbox One X enhancements. While the hype surrounding Microsoft’s ambitious collection might have died down, this update could finally make it what it always should have been.
This massive update clocks in at an almost unheard of 73gb in size. It includes tons of new features and improvements. The biggest are the Xbox One X enhancements and improved matchmaking (one of the things that held up the Master Chief Collection when it released before).
“If you own an Xbox One X and a compatible TV you’re in for a real treat – MCC has received visual enhancements to deliver the entire Master Chief saga up to 4K UHD and HDR,” reads the announcement. “And of course, each of the titles in MCC already run at 60FPS delivering what truly is the definitive way to experience the classic Halo collection. A new HDR and SDR video settings option has been added to the game to provide fine-tuning and calibration options to ensure MCC looks as good as possible across a variety of different hardware setups and personal preferences.”
Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s matchmaking is being totally improved, with the addition of dedicated servers to make the whole thing run smoothly. “With this patch, the foundation of MCC is getting modernized and updated to take advantage of the latest and greatest Xbox matchmaking and networking features and functionality. The result for players is an online experience that’s significantly more stable across both Multiplayer and Campaign co-op offerings. MCC also now utilizes dedicated servers housed in Microsoft global datacenters for all Matchmaking game sessions to provide further stability, reliability, and consistency”
These combine with tons of other changes to make Halo: The Master Chief Collection into something totally new for fans to try out. If you felt burned by the collection before, now is the time to give it another shot.
