While Hi-Rez Studios’ SMITE is doing perfectly fine on its own, the developer has announced that the game will be getting a spin-off that takes things in a very different direction. That game is called SMITE Tactics, which is unsurprisingly a turn-based strategy game set in the series’ universe.
The game will still feature all of the gods and minions from the main game, but the new goal will be to lead them across a grid and take out the entire enemy team. You’ll be able to get your army into shape prior to the battle by sorting out your deck of cards, which has a UI that SMITE fans will undoubtedly be familiar with.
The game runs off of the Unreal 4 engine and will offer 1v1 online modes, but there will also be offline adventure modes where the player faces off against the AI. You can check out the reveal trailer for the game at the bottom of this post.
SMITE Tactics does not currently have a release date, though it is expected to be getting a closed beta by the end of the year. You can sign up for the beta by clicking right here.
