There are plenty of experienced assassins patiently awaiting the arrival of Hitman 2 this November, but there are also many out there who don’t know the first thing about what it takes to be a top-notch hitman. There are plenty of guides contained in the vast expanse of the internet, but those looking for a quick introduction to the world of Hitman need look no further than the game’s newest trailer. Today, WB Games has released the first in a series of “how to Hitman,” with a focus upon immersion, options, and outcomes.
The game’s sandbox is the star of this video; it’s narrator makes a point of pointing out exactly what effect the player can have upon the world and how it will react to their presence. As with previous games in the series, it looks like Hitman 2 provides its players with many different avenues for completing their jobs. At the racetrack shown in the trailer, options included fixing the race to get the target into an exposed position or just sabotaging their car directly.
The game’s NPCs also appear to have received an upgrade this time around. Trailers of this sort should always be taken with a grain of salt, but it looks like IO Interactive has put a great deal of effort into them. Many unique and detailed faces are shown, and most NPCs appeared to have their own lines of background chatter. The trailer claims that NPC characters will react to changes in their environment, including odd noises. The world is described as “meticulously designed,” so perhaps players will indeed be able to manipulate the NPCs through less obvious means.
Blending into one’s surroundings and taking full advantage of them has always been an important part of doing well in past Hitman games, and it looks like the same holds true here. This extra layer of immersion just makes it that much easier to get into character.
Hitman 2 launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 13.
