If The Final Fantasy 7 Remake Was A 2D Side-Scroller

Some ambitious fans have made a Final Fantasy 7 Remake of their own. It imagines if the game was a 2D side scroller.

The main website says:Final Fantasy VII: Re-Imagined is a project made by fans of the original game. We re-imagined how the game would be like if it’s an action game.

Classic 2D Side-scrollers, such as Dragons and Dungeons: Chronicles of Mystara, Streets of Rage, etc, came to our minds. We thought about how we can incorporate some of the FFVII game play elements, such as Materia and summoning of Guardian Force into a Hack and Slash genre. The result is what you can see

The creators note this version of Final Fantasy 7 is not for profit. It is purely a fan-made project just for fun. Hopefully this disclaimer prevents the project from being shut down by Square Enix.

The game is not playable just yet, but a demo will be available soon. The art style looks cool and the action orientated gameplay adds something different. The Final Fantasy series never had a 2D side-scroller before officially.

This fan made project will be a nice alternative until we wait for the real Final Fantasy 7 Remake to come.
