As far as JRPGs go, the series that has been getting it right the most over the past few years is the Bravely Default series. Bravely Default laid the ground work with a solid throwback adventure with a great new Brave and Default mechanic that breathed new life into turn-based combat, and the overall story and game structure was improved with Bravely Second.
While news on the series has been very minimal recently, Square Enix is teasing that that could be changing very soon. They posted a message on Twitter that reads ‘It’s Bravely‘s four-year anniversary! We apologize as news has been scant recently. There may be something soon….!?’
Bravely Second launched for the 3DS in the US earlier this year, providing one of the best RPG experiences of the year. While it’s definitely a little too soon to expect another game in the series releasing in the foreseeable future, we could be looking at an update revealing where the next game in the series might be taking things. Previous talk has suggested that the next game in the series could end up on a console other than 3DS, which seems like an NX release would be a perfect match.
Both Bravely Default and Bravely Second are available exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
