Tomorrow (December 7), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will finally be released. Though the game’s base roster includes more seventy playable characters, an unprecedented amount for a fighting game, more fighters will be added to the game over the course of 2019 as DLC. Tonight, during The Game Awards, the first of five paid DLC characters was revealed.

During The Game Awards show, it was revealed that Joker, the playable character from last year’s critically acclaimed RPG Persona 5 will be the first DLC character in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass. Joker will come with his own stage as well as some music tracks from the Persona series.

After the reveal, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime discussed the Fighters Pass and reiterated how the five new characters that will be made available with it will all be completely new characters that are not currently represented in Super Smash Bros. and that they will all be characters that fans likely aren’t expecting to be included. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate becomes available tonight, and the Fighters Pass, which will cost $24.99 for all five character packs, is available for pre-order. Alternatively, players can choose to buy the Joker character pack as a stand-alone purchase for $5.99.
