Konami has announced that they have secured the official rights for UEFA Euro 2016. What this means for the Pro Evolution series is unclear. While the UEFA Euro 2016 will see 24 teams gather in France for group matches and knock-out stages next year, fans should not expect to see them in Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 (PES 2016).
According to a press release from Konami, “UEFA EURO 2016 license will not be featured in PES 2016 which is scheduled to be released on Sept. 15, though further information on how the license will be activated will be coming early next year.”
It looks like PES fans are going to have to wait a little while to see exactly how this will pan out for the annual soccer title. Whether there will be a standalone release for UEFA Euro 2016, or if Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 will see updates or downloadable content.
PES 2016 releases in a little over a month’s time. A demo for the game will arrive on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 on August 13th.
