LucasArts is hiring for a mysterious FPS project

A new, unannounced FPS game is in the work at LucasArts. Is it too much to hope that it's still somehow Battlefront 3?

Calm yourself. The supposed project in development is a first-person shooter, so it’s not Battlefront 3 (though we’re secretly hoping LucasArts has shifted the Battlefront series from third-person to first-person perspective). Nevertheless, there’s still cause for excitement.

LucasArts recently posted multiple openings for work primarily concerning an unannounced FPS title. Four positions in total are available for work on the project and include Senior AI Engineer, Senior Animator, Senior Core Engineer, and Gameplay Engineer (which requires proficiency in Unreal Engine 3, so we can assume what engine the game will run on). CVG points out that the job description for the Senior Core Engineer position lists the task of implementing “features and optimizations on current and Future Generation console and PC hardware.”

Though we don’t know whether or not the game will see release on current-gen consoles or if it will even take place within the Star Wars universe, it won’t be the first time LucasArts has dabbled in the FPS genre, evidenced by the 1995 release of Star Wars: Dark Forces. LucasArts is also currently hard at work on another Star Wars game titled Star Wars 1313 which will be a third-person action game that will center around a bounty hunter navigating Coruscant’s cavernous “Level 1313” as he tries “to uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy.”

If you haven’t already seen the first gameplay demos for Star Wars 1313, prepare to be wowed. We got a taste of LucasArts’ most ambitious Star Wars title to date back at E3, and boy, did it look good. Check out the visually arresting video below:
