It has been confirmed that the next Mario Kart game will arrive on the Wii U in May. The announcement was made by Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata at an investor meeting where the company discussed their latest financials. The game had been previously slated for a Spring Release. May will put this on the outside bands of that previous time table.
Nintendo is hoping that big franchises like Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and others will boost Wii U sales going forward. The company recently revised their outlook for Wii U sales downward, and sharply. The console did not sell well in 2013, despite having quite a few critically acclaimed titles hit the market.
