Metacritic has posted an article on the best rated games of the year. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was the best game overall.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on Xbox One had an average Metacritic score of 95 making it the top rated game in 2015. Technically the PC port of Grand Theft Auto V got a higher score of 96, but that game originally came out in 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for PC was the next best reviewed game of 2015. It garnered a score of 93. The PS4 version of MGS V came next which also scored an average score of 93. It’s quite confusing as there are many different platforms for the same games, but The Witcher 3 and The Phantom Pain dominated the top spots on all their respective platforms basically.
The PC’s Undertale scored an impressive 93 while Bloodborne scored a 92 making it the best rated PS4 exclusive. There were a few remasters on top too with games like Shovel Knight and Journey scoring well on Metacritic too.
The PC has the overall best rated games scoring an average of 70.6. This is up from the 70.5 the PS4 scored and 70.4 for the Xbox One. Wii U games weren’t as well received this year as its games scored an average of only 67.1 in 2015.
