Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Will Explore More On Otacon’s Family

by Damian Seeto

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will explore more about the history of Otacon’s family.

FraggedNation had a chance to interview Christoper Randolph who is the voice of Huey Emmerich (Otacon’s father) in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Randolph had a chance to talk more about Huey and what we might find out about the Emmerich family in the full game.

Randolph said Huey in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is different from Otacon. Otacon is more of a “hero” while Huey lies within the “grey area”. He said Huey is not a bad guy so to speak, but his “mortal judgment” is not as clear.

He also said he had to do facial and motion capture for Huey in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. It was a new experience for Randolph, but he thought it was amazing. He also said he had to adjust the voice for Huey a bit to make him sound a little different from Otacon.

Randolph revealed we will learn about the “family’s dark history” in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. He didn’t elaborate more on this, but it does sound like something exciting. He also sadly couldn’t talk much about Huey’s relationship with Bis Boss, but said it’s “interesting”.
