Metal Gear Survive Debuts at No.6 in the UK with Low Sales

Recommended Videos

Metal Gear Survive is the highest new entry in this week’s United Kingdom charts, with the spin-off debuting at number 6 of the All Formats list. However, sales haven’t been as good as that position suggests, as the game has performed significantly worse than previous releases from the series like Metal Gear Solid V or Metal Gear Rising: Revengance. In fact, compared with the sales of the previous spin-off, Survive has sold 85% in its first week. Of course, we have to keep in mind that Metal Gear Survive is an online multiplayer game, which tend to have a much larger volume of digital sales than other releases, and those are not tracked by the charts. The PS4 version accounted for 68% of the sales.

The other new release of the week is Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, which makes a merely testimonial appearance at number 37. The game is based on the famous anime series although it presents an alternative version of the events, much like other games of the franchise. This entry introduces a battle system more focused on the use of rifles and other firearms, and you can watch a gameplay video here.

As for holdovers, FIFA 18 repeats at number 1, while other titles like Monster Hunter: World and Shadow of the Colossus show some potential for long-term sales by remaining in the same positions from last week. Kingdom Come: Deliverance falls from number 2 to 12, following an 80% drop in sales, while Bayonetta 2 for Nintendo Switch falls from number 5 to number 19 with a 71% sales drop.
